CSM: The Body Shop x Ageism
I studied abroad at Central Saint Martins, part of University of the Arts London, during spring semester of 2020. I was in the integrated Graphic Communication Design programme where I took classes with CSM students during their Stage 2 Spring Term.
For Unit 7, I was placed into Strategy and Identity, a branding class. The second project was a group project in collaboration with The Body Shop. My group tackled the issue of ageism. We noticed that older people are used to market anti-ageing products, but ageism does not only affect older people. We wanted to highlight the struggles of the younger generation face due to their age.
As a solution, we came up with the “Grow Strong” campaign. We wanted to raise awareness on the issue, celebrate the younger generation’s achievements, as well as giving a platform to express themselves. We came up with the slogan “Never too young to...”,
a poster series celebrating youth’s achievements, and a pamphlet that advertises different events for people to gather and meet.
